Heceta Head Lighthouse stands 56 feet tall and is one of eleven lighthouses that dot the Oregon Coast.  First lit in 1894, it continues to shines today with a beam visible for 21 nautical miles.

This path along a section of the Oregon Coast cut through a portion of forest so dense that it created a tunnel effect.

The Umpqua Lighthouse stands out against the clear blue Oregon sky.

We discovered this beautiful Oregon State Park, located along the Chetco River, just a few short miles east of the southern coastal town of Brookings.  The scenic Riverview trail provides the perfect opportunity to stretch one’s legs.  Be sure to walk the entire 3/4 mile trail…it connects with the U.S. Forest Service’s Redwood Nature Trail, which leads to the northernmost stand of redwoods on the Pacific Coast.

On a clear evening, there is no better place to watch the sun go down.
