Heceta Head Lighthouse stands 56 feet tall and is one of eleven lighthouses that dot the Oregon Coast. First lit in 1894, it continues to shines today with a beam visible for 21 nautical miles.

We discovered this beautiful Oregon State Park, located along the Chetco River, just a few short miles east of the southern coastal town of Brookings. The scenic Riverview trail provides the perfect opportunity to stretch one’s legs. Be sure to walk the entire 3/4 mile trail…it connects with the U.S. Forest Service’s Redwood Nature Trail, which leads to the northernmost stand of redwoods on the Pacific Coast.
