Cloudy skies threatened our spring trek along Scotland’s West Highland Way.
A July trek along Europe’s Tour du Mont Blanc found us picnicking in some pretty spectacular settings. The Col Ferret, a climb up to 8,169 feet, forms border between Italy and Switzerland, and provides a spot for a well deserved rest.

Most of the cattle ignored us, used to the steady stream of trekkers along the trail. One curious cow posed for a snapshot as we traversed the hillside.
Growing alongside the trail, this tree bears the unfortunate scars of numerous passersby.
