Sharing the beauty of our world

We discovered this beautiful Oregon State Park, located along the Chetco River, just a few short miles east of the southern coastal town of Brookings.  The scenic Riverview trail provides the perfect opportunity to stretch one’s legs.  Be sure to walk the entire 3/4 mile trail…it connects with the U.S. Forest Service’s Redwood Nature Trail, which leads to the northernmost stand of redwoods on the Pacific Coast.

While few leaves remain during these winter months, some splashes of color survive, creating a bright spot on a cold December day.

We often see beautiful sunrises, but every so often the setting sun puts on a show for us off our mostly east facing deck.  Sadly, the colors fade as quickly as they appear, reminding us how important it is to savor life’s simple pleasures.

Be sure to put aside some time to enjoy Crater Lake from the  back deck of the lodge.  It is the perfect spot to relax after a busy day of exploration.  Grab a rocking chair and your favorite beverage while you drink in the view.

While Smith Rock is a hot spot for climbing, there is also plenty of hiking for folks (like me!) who prefer to keep both feet on the ground.

It isn’t easy to capture a photo of the Eiffel Tower without the crowds.

On a clear evening, there is no better place to watch the sun go down.
