The purple bloom of an artichoke resembles a sea anemone from an ocean tide pool.

I stumbled upon these brightly colored mystery plants while on a morning walk in my neighborhood.

This path along a section of the Oregon Coast cut through a portion of forest so dense that it created a tunnel effect.

Nestled in the end of a fallen tree, this caught my eye while walking along a wooded path on the coast of southern Washington.  Although it rates high on my “ick factor” scale, I couldn’t help but snap a photo.

The Umpqua Lighthouse stands out against the clear blue Oregon sky.

The Coastal Redwoods in Northern California are some of the tallest and oldest trees in the world.  We discovered a five mile walk just east of Crescent City that led us through a dense forest where redwood giants soared high above us.

 

Growing alongside the trail to the top of Humbug Mountain was one perfect wild iris.  Spring continues to bloom beneath sheltering trees on the Oregon Coast.
